NEIL S. DORNBAUM is recognized as one of the premier immigration attorneys in the State of New Jersey. As a partner at Dornbaum & Peregoy, he has limited his practice for over 30 years to immigration and nationality matters with a special emphasis on employment based immigration. He represents Fortune 500 companies, corporate employers in engineering, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, and emerging business within high tech industries assisting employers with domestic and international transfer of foreign personnel, including executives, managers, and other highly skilled professionals, and those individuals of extraordinary and exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, and athletics. He also represents individuals seeking to reunite with family members and obtain citizenship.
Mr. Dornbaum completed a decade of service as member of the ABA’s Commission on Immigration. The Commission directs the Association’s efforts to ensure fair treatment and full due process rights for immigrants and refugees within the United States. Acting in coordination with other Association entities, as well as governmental and non-governmental bodies, the Commission:
1) advocates for statutory and regulatory modifications in law and governmental practice consistent with ABA policy on Capitol Hill;
2) provides continuing education and timely information about trends, court decisions and pertinent developments for members of the legal community, judges, affected individuals and the public; and
3) develops and assists the operation of pro bono programs that encourage volunteer lawyers to provide high quality, effective legal representation for individuals in immigration proceedings, with a special emphasis on the needs of the most vulnerable immigrant and refugee populations.
He has served as National Chair of the ABA’s Immigration Committee under the General Practice Section. He has also Chaired the New Jersey State Bars Immigration Section and the American Immigration Lawyers Association New Jersey Chapter and has served on their Board of Governors. He has served as a liaison to the numerous governmental agencies including Department of Homeland Security; Citizenship and Immigration Service; Immigration Customs and Enforcement; Customs and Border Protection; Department of Labor and Department of State.
Neil writes and lectures nationally on various aspects of immigration law practice for Bar Associations, Religious and Business Groups and Human Resource Organizations. He is on the editorial board of several publications and has edited over 40 Course books on Immigration and Nationality matters and Chaired over 50 Immigration Conferences.
He has been named in “Best Lawyers in America” for the last 20 years and was named Lawyer of the Year for 2013. He is listed in Martindale Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. He is one of less than 500 lawyers worldwide listed in the “International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers” and “International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers”.
